Is My Attorney Asking Me The Right Questions For My Case?

When an attorney is questioning you about your case the questions may seem a little strange at first. Questions that may seem irrelevant or odd to you still serve a purpose. Your attorney needs to know enough information about you to properly represent your case. Your attorney knows, through experience, what the opposing counsel is going to look for to disprove your case. They also know what information they need to prove your case beyond a reasonable doubt. Even if the questions seem odd, make sure you answer them to the best of your ability.

The Questions About My Case Seem Really Personal, Should I Answer My Attorney

When you are preparing for a case you should answer all of your attorney’s questions honestly and openly. Regardless of how odd the questions may seem, they are being asked for a specific reason. When you are answering these questions about yourself your attorney is formulating the way to best represent your case to fit your needs. Each case is different, even if it is the same type of injury. Trust your attorney to make the right decisions about your representation.

How Do I Answer Questions To The Opposing Counsel

Before you answer any questions to the opposing counsel, your attorney will brief you on what information you should disclose. However, this does not mean you can lie. What this does mean is that your attorney may inform you to answer yes or no and leave the explanations of those actions to your attorney. Your attorney will never tell you to lie, misinform or present yourself in a fraudulent way. When you are answering questions about your case to either attorney you must remain honest or you could forfeit your case.
